Mastering the Art of Self Promotion Via Marketing

You’ve likely seen it on your personal feed: Instagram ads promising $10,000 per month or people who constantly talk about themselves on LinkedIn. Or the archetypical influencer. These are all examples of marketing that promotes self-promotion. While they aren’t always pleasant but they are effective when done correctly.

Self-promotion is important as it raises awareness about your capabilities and skills, which can attract opportunities that could help you grow in your career, or even change your career. It also lets you showcase your accomplishments to others, who can assist you with anything could be needed in the future. You could be overlooked and losing out on opportunities when you don’t have it.

However it can be challenging to master the art of self-promotion because it’s sometimes difficult to determine how much is too much or when you may be viewed as an over-the-top braggart. Numerous studies have proven that braggadocio could make others feel jealous, annoyed and even result in negative evaluations of your performance.
