1-THE HISTORY OF SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

Training in software engineering what is it all about? For us to better understand we should first have a better knowledge of its origin. Tom Kilburn a great computer scientist decide to come out with the first piece of software. He is schooling at the university of manchester in England in the year 1984. Furthermore, Tom Kilburn together with his friend Freddie Williams has built the first computer. In fact, this computer is the Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine. This computer is the first program to run. The Manchester Small-Scale Experimental Machine is a program to perform and carry algebraic operations. Moreover, The SSM is performing these operations using machine code instructions. The SSM takes“only” 52 minutes to correctly compute the greatest divisor of 2 to the power of 18 (262,144).

Many years after this new and creative innovation, computers are program with PUCH CARDS.  In fact, the first programming language is FORTRAN   which is published in 1957. Moreover, One year later, a great statistician John Tukey mentioned the name ” software“. This was in his article about computer programs. 2- WHAT IS SOFTWARE ENGINEERING

It is important to first know what is software. Software is a set of data or programs which operate on a computer and perform a specific task. It is reverses of hardware. Hardware has to deal with the physical or tangible parts of a computer. Software is a word that is used to refer to programs that are found on an electronic device. It is the varying part of a computer, while the hardware is the unvarying part.

Hence, two main types of software do exist which are application software and system software. Application software is a type of software that performs a specific need and task. While System software is design to run a computer’s hardware and provides a platform for programs to be run on top. Also, other software is malware, driver software.
